Calacatta marble offers a beautiful, distinctive look. It’s known for its striking, thick grey veins which contrast the snow-white colour of the stone. This stunning material is only found in one quarry in the world, which is located in Carrara, Northern Italy. Marble brings a stunning and distinctive character to any piece and, with the right care, is a hard-wearing option that can last many years. The key to marble care is to clean spills as quickly as possible – acidic substances like juice or wine can affect the look of the stone so wipe them up immediately. Using a mat or coaster can reduce the risk of liquids coming into contact with the marble in the first place. Marble is easy to wipe clean – just dust with a dry microfibre cloth. Use a mild soap and warm water if need be, but avoid harsh chemicals such as bleach at all costs.
